Moving right along...

Some time has passed since I ran the initial test on third-party and OEM toner cartridges and I again have everything I need to run the comparison a second time. The printer, affectionately known as "Bruno," now has a page count of 1,228,972; meaning it has printed some 68,558 pages since the first part of this test was completed. I have been using only OEM cartridges since then and I think the top-right picture speaks for itself - no spilled toner.

To ensure I am being as fair as possible, I cleaned the printer exactly as before. I then unpacked the third-party toner cartridge and inserted it into the printer, photographing each step so that there could be no question as to the origin of this print cartridge. This cartridge should yield about 15,000 pages so the next update will be in about two weeks. We'll see then if this cartridge performs better than the first third-party toner cartridge I tested.
